Eastern Coyote Hunting: Second Chance (DownWind Outdoors) Apr 22nd 2013, 18:34, by DownWindOutdoors Eastern Coyote Hunting: Second Chance (DownWind Outdoors) For more information on the calls used in this video, please visit us at http://www.downwindoutdoors.com Returning to the scene of last year's "Three's Company" for one of the final hunts of the season, Mike and Andy hoped that perhaps those two remaining coyotes of the trio may have forgotten our DWO ways. On a great property such as this, anything is possible and it only seemed like a matter of time before a setup would pay off there this season. After a close encounter there on an early season setup the group gave the property a long rest knowing the next setup there they would have a good chance of connecting. For whatever reason, the end of breeding season and the melting snow always seems to spark a dramatic increase in predator activity. Proof of that came almost immediately for DownWind Outdoors this morning, as a quick hoot on the ol' Crack rabbit squealer brought out two very interested coyotes. Whether it's the weariness or a prior encounter, or any other education factor, here in the East, coyotes do not generally come charging in to the call like you would hope for. But on this morning, they had an x-factor in the MOJO Super Critter which was thrashing and chirping on the ground 50 yards in front of them. The coyote was in a trance and set on mauling this decoy at full throttle. A rare happening which left Mikein awe and underprepared for what was required to take on a running coyote at very close distances! A rushed miss didn't spoil the fun, as the coyote luckily gave us a Second Chance to end with a dump and to walk out with a trophy.
